The golf course at Big River Golf & Country Club in Berri is central to four other top Riverland Courses including Renmark, Waikerie, Loxton and Barmera.
A popular tourist destination for the people of Adelaide as well as golfers touring the Murray playing the great game of golf, the 18 Hole “Berri Golf Course” is a favourite in the Riverland with beautifully presented grass greens.
The men’s par 71, 6019m and ladies par 73, 5284m Berri golf course is forgiving for the less experienced, yet challenging for committed golfers wanting to test their skills.
The par three opening hole is one of many highlights at this Riverland golf course. An elevated tee landscaped with roses and native shrubs plays up a slight rise to a magnificent green that’s set among flowering tall gums.
Around the course you’ll discover that the fairways and greens at Berri are fully irrigated making for a very pleasant golfing experience. The par four eighth signature hole is challenging. In this instance you’ll be required to avoid bunkers on both sides of the dance floor as you make your approach shot.
Much of the rough on the Berri golf course is watered meaning play is almost always on grass. The surfaces of the greens are excellent due to mixture of Bent, Cobra and Pennlink grasses and the fairways are mostly Santa Anna that thrive in the SA Riverland and other golf courses dotted along the Murray River.
An easy walking layout makes for a very enjoyable game with small hills, bumps and bunkers breaking the picturesque landscape. Established flowering gums, natives and Mallee trees line all fairways from the 1st to the 18th.
At the final hole you’ll find a two-tiered tee adjacent to the superb on-course accommodation at Big River Motor Inn. Here you’ll play under the watchful eye of guests staying on-course and those enjoying the Tavern and outdoor balcony facilities at Big River Golf and Country Club.
